Morning Me Time

Unfortunately not every morning can be the “Pinterest Perfect” lazy Sunday morning.  Our routines are all over the place and usually end up more stressful than the rest of the day. Breakfast needs to be made, car-pool responsibilities, and worrying about all of our other obligations.  If I wake up and feel like I’m in a rush the whole day feels off balance and I have a tough time bouncing back. What if I told you, waking up a little earlier and having morning “Me Time” will not only make the mornings more peaceful, but will affect your entire day?

A majority of successful people all over have one thing in common; they take an hour or so in the morning to gather their thoughts before starting their day. For some that means working out, practicing yoga or even just stretching. Others take this time to have a nice hot shower and plan out their day mentally.  If you’re anything like me that sounds great and all but I like sleep and I want to hold on to every spare minuet I can get.

Here’s a few tips and tricks that have helped me start my day off right:

Ditch the Snooze button

I abuse my snooze button. It used to be my best friend, but I often fely more tired and anxious when I was constantly waking up and falling back to sleep. Put your alarm clock on the other side of the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off, then make your bed and get going.

Get the Blood Flowing

You don’t have to leave your house, or pay for a gym membership, in order to have a small workout to get your mind and body going. Pinterest and YouTube are packed with simple, short workouts that will kick start your day. I like doing a short yoga session during week days and doing a more challenging workout on the mornings I have more time.

Eat a Good Breakfast

It’s easy to skip breakfast in the mornings when we have a thousand other things going on.  We need this meal to start up our metabolism, and to keep us focused throughout the day. Even if it’s something small, make breakfast a priority.

Plan out Your Day

While eating breakfast or over your cup of tea plan out your day. Some people can do this mentally, I need to actually write down the things I want accomplished. Make realistic goals and hold yourself to them. This will help keep you on track and take off the stress because you’re not constantly guessing what you need to have done.
